::: About the CRC 649

We live in a world full of uncertainty. Uncertainty about the future influence present decisions.
Financial market fluctuations threaten household wealth, real estate, or the value of bonds and shares.

Unforeseen technical innovations destroy the market position of well-established firms. Cyclical fluctuations endanger employment. Economic policy is constantly challenged by growth risks. The pivotal meaning of economic risk has not until now be given sufficient consideration.

Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Härdle
Deputy Coordinator: Prof. Michael C. Burda, Ph.D.

Dear researchers and partners,
we have successfully concluded the Collaborative Research Center 649.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work and commitment to building a strong and prosperous organization.
We have achieved many new research results and found ways to shed a new light on emerging research problems and on how to solve them.

We are thankful to all of you who have worked so hard to make this a reality and to deepen the view on specific areas of research, which had not been touched until you - the pioneers - worked on them.
You have provided amazing support throughout our research process and we look forward to sharing our results.

Over the last 12 years, your work, commitment, and research have been characterized by innovative ideas, strategic thinking and, most valuable, your tireless efforts to increase the credibility and visibility of our field of research in the national and international community. The resulting goodwill has become a huge asset to us, and the relationships you have fostered with our supporters and partners will ensure that all our researchers' future projects will prosper and continue to offer opportunities to our researchers and partners worldwide.
By all measures, your work has improved the specific fields of research immensely and lead to two successful prolongations by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

From a personal point of view, your warm friendship and support have been very important to us throughout the last two years.
Your energy and devotion to your role within the CRC 649 will be hard to match but you leave these fields of research on a strong footing for those who follow you.

It is our very great pleasure on behalf of the coordinators, the heads of projects and all the other members of the CRC 649 as a whole to thank you for your dedication and the great job you have accomplished in the CRC 649.
We wish you all the very best in your future endeavors and we look forward to your ongoing involvement in research.

Your CRC 649 team.

::: Research Data Center (RDC)

RDC is the base for empirical and computer-based (numerical) theoretical research at CRC 649. It supplies information on research results, events and provides access to data and network services to all participating researchers. The goal is to establish a communication network concentrated on the empirical research of risk and economics in order to enable researchers to exchange data whilst being located at different places.
